Newman’s-Frozen-Pizza

Meta Description: The ultimate guide to Newman’s frozen pizza – from their history and charity work to cooking tips, creative recipes, and how they stack up against competitors. Real ingredients and giving back one pizza at a time.

Newman’s Own is a well known brand in America. Many Americans know and love them. Their frozen pizzas have become a staple in grocery store freezer sections all across the country. As someone who enjoys a good frozen pizza from time to time, I wanted to provide a comprehensive guide to Newman’s frozen pizzas – from their ingredient quality to cooking instructions and even creative recipe ideas.

A Quick History of Newman's Own

The famous actor Paul Newman launched this company back in 1982. He first started by making homemade salad dressings as gifts for his friends. Then it quickly expanded into what it is today: a food company that sells some of the best products you can eat at home! All post tax profits are donated to charities!

The first frozen pizza they had came out in 1993. It was just your plain old cheese pizza made with Newman’s Own tomato sauce.

Over the years, they have expanded their selection and now offer much more variety.

Using high-quality ingredients like real mozzarella cheese, herbs and spices, uncured meats, and fire-roasted vegetables; these are not your typical frozen pizzas.

Unfortunately Paul passed away back in 2008 but his charitable mission lives on through Newman’s Own!

As of right now it is still privately owned by his family. So far they have donated over $550 million!

Here Are Some Reasons You Should Choose Them Over The Competition

Comparison of Newman's Own Pizzas to Other Brands

Quality Ingredients

They only use high-quality ingredients when creating their pizzas. There are no shortcuts here folks! They use vine-ripened tomatoes that get turned into sauce, real mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, along with many herbs and spices in all of their toppings.

No Artificial Flavors or Colors

Most places would throw some artificial colors or flavors into their product if they thought people would still buy it after seeing that on the label. Not Newman’s Own! They reject artificial additives and stick with natural ingredients!

Fun, Creative Topping Combinations

They don’t only sell average cheese or pepperoni pizza. While you’ll find those as options, they get more creative too. A few examples of these are Hawaiian style pineapple and ham, veggie topped off with fresh veggies, and even chicken bacon ranch made with crispy chicken breast pieces.

Cause-Driven Mission

When you buy their frozen pizza you can take pride in supporting them because 100% of profits go towards charities! So far the company has donated over $550 million to food banks, youth organizations, veterans groups, and human service charities across the globe. Your pizza purchase fuels this mission.

Convenient & Affordable

All frozen pizzas, Newman’s included, have one thing in common: convenience. You don’t have to worry about delivery when you buy a frozen pizza. Just heat, eat, and get on with your life. These pizzas usually cost between $6-10. It may not be at Domino’s speed, but it tastes good for large quantities of food.

Newman’s rises above its competitors by using quality ingredients, creativity, and charitable giving. So let’s take a look at the different types of pizzas they have.

Newman’s Own Pizzas

Newman’s Own has around 12 different kinds of this delicious dish that fills up your freezer space. In this section we will highlight some of the most unique flavors they offer.

Thin & Crispy Pepperoni Pizza

It’s your classic pepperoni pizza but just done right. The all-natural crust starts thin and crispy with their special tomato sauce laid on top. Real mozzarella is then added along with pizza style pepperonis (also made by them). It’s simple yet perfect in every way possible.

Uncured Pepperoni Pizza

For those who want the same flavors without any artificial flavorings or preservatives, this uncured pepperoni option is perfect for you! The tomatoes used for this particular pizza are also special just like their counterpart; tomatoes are actually a fruit if you didn’t know that.

Supreme Pizza

Get ready for an explosion of flavors! This Supreme pizza comes loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, green bell peppers, and black olives . If you’re one to be very indecisive about what type to get when buying from a restaurant, this pizza is made specifically for you!

Margherita Pizza

Margherita? I don’t even know her! Olive oil builds up the base for this pizza, and then they add tomatoes, fresh basil, and shredded mozzarella. The basil smells amazing too. It’s made exactly as you’d expect from a classic Neapolitan margherita pizza; thin crispy crust with some fresh high quality ingredients.

Fire Roasted Vegetable Pizza

If you’re looking to finally go meatless but don’t know where to start then try one of these! This veggie pizza is loaded with zucchini, red & yellow peppers (I’m not sure what the difference is), onions and mushrooms that Newman’s roasts over an open flame to intensify the flavors. They also sprinkle some Italian herb seasoning on top along with mozzarella cheese which makes it taste amazing!

Hawaiian Style Pizza

While there are debates about whether pineapple has any business being on a pizza or not, I think we can all agree that it’s delicious either way! This Hawaiian style pizza includes Newman’s Own sauce (of course) along with part-skim mozzarella cheese (I didn’t even know skim milk could make cheese), smoked ham, and pineapple chunks. If you need a refresher of what summer feels like then this should do the trick.

Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza

For blue cheese dressing lovers, this pizza delivers those flavors in every bite. There is no tomato sauce used here; instead it’s ranch style sauce. Crispy breaded white meat chicken, Applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, and a four cheese blend tops it off.

Cheese Trio Pizza

Simple as ever: Mozzarella, parmesan, and Asiago cheeses sprinkled on top of Newman’s Own pizza sauce. The three complementary cheeses mingle together for mouthwatering meltiness and cheesy decadence in each bite.

Ultra Thin Crust Margherita Pizza

With fewer than 400 calories a serving and a crisp, thin crust, our Margherita pizza is the fresh and delicious way to enjoy a really good pie. We start with a thin crust that’s topped with vine-ripened summer tomatoes, chopped garlic, olive oil, basil, oregano and mozzarella. It’s our lighter twist on a Margherita pie.

Our sampling of Newman’s Own frozen pizza flavors show the company’s dedication to quality ingredients while always honoring the great pizza tradition. And whether you like your pizza thin or crispy, classic or avant-garde or meaty or veggie — there’s something for everyone in their repertoire.

How to Cook Frozen Pizza Perfectly

Newman’s-Frozen-Pizza

Cooking Newman’s Own frozen pizzas at home is easy. Here’s how to do it:

  • Always start with a preheated oven. Turn it up to the temperature stated on the package (usually about 400°F).
  • Put your pizza directly on the oven rack instead of placing it on top of a baking sheet; this will make sure that the bottom gets crispy as it cooks. Make sure you put your pizza directly in the center rack position.
  • Only cook one pizza at a time so that there can be proper air circulation around it as it cooks. The same goes for frozen chicken fingers.
  • Cook for as long as the package says (about 15 to 20 minutes), rotating your pizza halfway through so that it cooks evenly all over.
  • Determine doneness by checking if its topping has bubbled up and are hot. The edges should be browned and firm while the bottom should be golden-brown too.
  • Letting your cooked pizza sit for about two minutes before cutting into will allow everything inside to set properly. Cut using swift back-and-forth motions with either sharp knife or a sharp wheel cutter for perfect slices every time.
  • To reheat, place the slices on a baking sheet and into an oven that’s heated up to 375°F. Allow them to cook for 4 to 5 minutes or until they’re warmed all the way through. Don’t use a microwave because it’ll just make your crust soggy.

As long as you follow these steps, your Newman’s Own frozen pizza will be crispy on the outside with melty cheese inside every time.

Recipes That Use Newman's Frozen Pizza

While the pizzas are good enough to eat alone, don’t feel stuck in that box! You can also get creative and use them in recipes too. The pre-made crusts and sauce give you a great foundation for making some really unique pies. Here are some ideas:

BBQ Chicken Pizza

Brush Newman’s plain cheese pizza with barbecue sauce then top with grilled chicken, red onion, cilantro and cheddar cheese. For those times when you want something smoky but not spicy.

Taco Pizza

Turn regular pizza night into taco night by using one of our frozen ones instead! Spread refried beans across a cheese-only pizza crust then add on taco meat, tomatoes, black olives, onions, cheddar cheese and lettuce. Top everything off with tortilla chips and salsa before serving.

Hawaiian Chicken Pizza

When we say this is luau-worthy we mean it! Take a ham-and-pineapple flavored Newman’s pizza then top it with chopped (and grilled) chicken breast. Folks just can’t seem to resist this deliciously sweet and savory tropical twist on classic Hawaiian-style pies.

Greek Pizza

Swap out margherita for Greek by spreading hummus across a frozen cheese pizza before adding halved cherry tomatoes, spinach leaves, Kalamata olives and feta crumbles on top. Finish it off with a drizzle of lemon olive oil if you want some tangy zest!

Dessert Pizza

Give pizza a sweet twist by jazzing up a plain crust. Use Newman’s thin crust and brush with butter and cinnamon. Top with baked apple slices, raisins, brown sugar, and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Your kids will love this dessert “pizza.”

Breakfast Pizza

Wake up to this breakfast of champions! Grease a Newman’s plain pizza crust and crack 2 eggs on top. Sprinkle with pre-cooked bacon bits, shredded cheddar, and green onions. Bake until eggs are set for an AM pizza perfect for on-the-go.

Cheeseburger Pizza

All the flavors of a juicy burger in easy flatbread form. Spread pizza sauce on crust and add pickles, onions, ground beef, ketchup, and American cheese. Pick up the fixings from the grocery deli for an almost-instant cheeseburger pizza.

Cheesy Garlic Bread Pizza

For garlic bread lovers, this one’s for you! Melt butter with minced garlic and parsley and brush onto Newman’s crust. Sprinkle heavily with parmesan. Bake until crispy. Slice and dip in marinara sauce for cheesy garlic bread morphed into pizza.
